Business Philosophy:
Influenced by internships at two organizations that deployed the effective tools of capitalism to achieve positive social outcomes. Believes that free enterprise is an amazingly powerful force for human progress and development, but needs to be tempered by responsibility, fairness, and conscience.
Master of Eclectic Talents:
Among his capabilities not typically found in private equity professionals – he has won a horseback rodeo contest and can catch 100 chickens in 10 minutes (picked up that skill as a volunteer on an organic farm one summer in high school). And he can do a backflip on skis.
Favorite book:
The Violinist’s Thumb: And Other Lost Tales of Love, War, and Genius, as Written by Our Genetic Code, by Sam Kean. Reflects Tucker’s longstanding fascination with evolution, DNA, neuroscience, and biology. Which also ties in to one of his favorite nuggets of wisdom, from Charles Darwin, “It is the long history of humankind (and animal kind, too) that those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed.”
On the weekends:
Skiing (occasionally in his original hometown of Denver); playing piano; anything that contributes to health and wellness.
